Police have arrested the man who killed young TikToker Sana Yousaf. They used CCTV footage and mobile data to track him down, officials confirmed.
The suspect, Umar Hayat, was arrested in a late-night operation in Jaranwala, Faisalabad. Police say he had known Sana before, which shows the crime was personal.
Early investigation shows that Umar killed Sana due to a personal grudge. Police also found the weapon—a pistol—used in the murder. Umar confessed during questioning.
On the day of the crime, Umar parked his motorcycle near Sana’s house in Sector G-13, Islamabad. After shooting her, he ran away on foot and later escaped on his bike. CCTV cameras captured him fleeing, helping police identify and catch him quickly.
Police also recovered Sana’s iPhone from the suspect. This further supports the case against him.
Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi praised the Islamabad Police for their quick work, arresting Umar within 20 hours of the crime.
Sana Yousaf’s body has been sent to her hometown in Upper Chitral. The police are now checking more CCTV footage from different parts of the city to learn more about what happened before and after the murder. The investigation is still ongoing.
